Canceled in 2017.

Double handed teams from ECSA compete in the Midget Challenge Regatta against teams from Western Long Island Sound, Great South Bay, and Eastern Long Island.  This regatta, typically held at the US Coast Guard Academy in Flying Juniors (FJs) near the end of the summer, uses normal fleet racing rules.  No team racing is allowed.

To determine which boats make up the ECSA team, ECSA conducts a one-day elimination, sailed concurrently with the 420 fleet at the ECSA qualifier regatta noted on the schedule (Niantic Bay Junior Olympics for 2017).  The top 7 ECSA Midget finishers become the team that represents ECSA at the Midget Challenge Regatta.  Sailors are eligible for “Midget” status if they are 15 years or younger on both days of the final event.

A total of 20 (more if available) boats race.  The #1, 2 & 3 skipper/crew combinations will sail one boat each.  The #4, 5, 6 & 7 qualifiers will share two boats at the USCGA. If a winner cannot attend, then the next lowest point total will be invited.  Team scores are totaled to determine the winning team.  Trophies are awarded to the top 3 skippers and crews.
